NEW PROGRESSIVE POLITICAL ADVOCACY COMMITTEE!

Russ Feingold, a progressive leader in the Senate, was a Democratic Senator from Wisconsin from 1993 to January 2011. Because of his concern over what is, and isn’t, happening in Washington, he has started a new nonprofit political advocacy group called LegitAction focused on voters’ rights, campaign finance reform, protecting the independence of the U.S. Supreme Court, and abolishing the Electoral College.

For more information and to join this effort, go to LegitAction.

MEMBERS: TIME TO RENEW IF YOU HAVEN’T ALREADY!

Hello,

We’re starting the year with a lot of exciting meetings planned for our ECDC.

Although some of us who were members in 2016 have already renewed our membership, some of us have not. Now’s the time to do so. If you haven’t renewed your membership, and since you’re at your electronic device reading this note, why not go to the site http://ecdclub.org Once there at the top of the page you will find a green JOIN US button. Click on that in order to read about the different membership dues categories and different payment procedures. Then, if you wish, continue the membership renewal process. Another way to become a member is to sign up at an ECDC meeting.

Although you’re welcome to attend our meetings without renewing, the renewal helps our club in general but it also allows us to gain additional representation in the Democratic Party of Contra Costa County.

Our next meeting is March 28. See you there!

Cordially,
Tom Cesa, VP-Membership

PREVIEW OF Indivisible Guide DISCUSSION

Once we’ve read the Guide and heard the March meeting presentation,
we invite you to consider what next steps each of us might take on issues that we are passionate about.
As the Guide suggests, small subgroups taking action (e.g. letter writing) can have profound impact on our elected representatives.
So, it may be useful to form groups around urgent issues (such as health care, immigration) and any other issues we think are vital.
Our suggestion is that, as groups are formed, a group member can email Kip and let him know what the group’s focus is and the name of the group’s point of contact.  This information would be posted on the ECDC website.
