Ready for Hillary PAC Fundraiser

The question, “will she or won’t she,” still looms when looking forward to the 2016 Presidential race. Former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton is the presumptive Democratic candidate: it isn’t “official” yet, but that’s not stopping the early fundraising!

On October 17, Club members Hilary Crosby and Carla Hansen attended a fundraiser sponsored by the Ready for Hillary PAC at the home of Karen Weinstein and Michael Goldhaber. Former Governor of Michigan Jennifer Granholm “fired up” the attendees with her speech about the importance of women electeds and the need to see a woman president.

While she still ponders her decision to run, there’s no doubt (from the energy of the event) she will have a diverse base of support from the Bay Area who has really been ready for Madame President Hillary Clinton.

Annual Dinner Review

by Carla Hansen

In case you missed it, our regular October Club meeting was replaced by our annual dinner and fundraiser.  A huge thank you and appreciation is extended to the volunteers who helped set up, breakdown, serve food and drinks and organized the dinner. The evening was a success and it couldn’t have happened without all of the volunteers.

The evening at the Kensington Community Center was filled with music, tasty food, drinks and our fabulous keynote speaker, the Honorable Betty Yee.  Our Board of Equalization representative spoke about how being raised by immigrant parents who owned a small-business  in San Francisco instilled values of community, equality and public service  that she carries with her in her work as an elected. Betty Yee also spoke about her many accomplishments on the Board of Equalization and her upcoming race for State Controller.  Our Assembly member Nancy Skinner dropped by fresh from the BART negotiations table to update the Club on progress being made.

Eighty-five attendees mingled, networked, and of course, ate and drank. You could not turnaround without running into an elected official or a candidate.

Member Rita Xavier posted a number of photos to the Club’s Facebook page.
