Membership deadlines for Endorsement forums

The membership deadline passed in late July for the August endorsement forums. The deadline for membership to vote in the September 23 forum, for Kensington races, is August 24.

ECDC endorsements are made in each election cycle according to our by-laws (pdf). Only members in good standing for 30 days prior to the endorsement forum may vote, and the ECDC may only endorse Democrats in any race whether partisan or non-. A candidate must be selected on ballots of 60% of the members present to gain the club’s endorsement.

2014 Endorsement Forum

Our Endorsement Forum for the 2014 November election will be held in the El Cerrito High School cafeteria on August 23. Full details will be available once candidate filing has closed, but here are the races that we are considering:

  • Assembly District 15
  • West Contra Costa Unified School District Board
  • Stege Sanitary District Board
  • El Cerrito City Council
  • Kensington Police Protection and Community Services District
  • AC Transit Board – At-large
  • West Contra Costa Healthcare District Board
  • Contra Costa Community College District – Ward 1
  • Kensington Fire Protection District

Additional details on the agenda and voting will come once the filing period has passed.

ECDC Endorses Betty Yee, Mark DeSaulnier, Fiona Ma

At our February 22 endorsement forum, the ECDC made the following endorsements for the 2014 primary election:

Controller: Betty Yee

Secretary of State: No endorsement

Congress (CA-11): Mark DeSaulnier

Board of Equalization: Fiona Ma

Assembly (AD-15): No endorsement

Primary-endorsed candidates who go on to the general election will carry the ECDC endorsement. We will reconsider races with no endorsement before the general election in November.
